Excitement and records on the second day of competition: Indian shooters dominate the air rifle shooting!

On the second day of the World Championship, the hotly anticipated 10-meter air rifle shooting took place - and it was a day full of surprises, thrills and new world records. In cool morning weather, 14 of the best shooters in the world competed in the qualification. Three shooters from India, one from Hungary, two from Ukraine and two from Germany, made it into the top ranks (places 1-8). The Indian shooter Mahit Sandhu caused a sensation when she set a new world record with an impressive 627.7 rings. Unfortunately, the German shooter Miriam Kraske had to bury her dream of reaching the final.

The men's qualification was just as exciting as the women's. 17 shooters competed, and once again the Indian team was in outstanding form: the top 3 in the qualification went entirely to India. Srikanth Dhanush not only secured first place with a sensational 632.7 rings, but also set a new world record.

There were also bright spots for Germany: Daniel Colin Müller and Erik Hess fought their way into the final, as did two Ukrainians and a Czech. But Sebastian Hermann only managed 12th place despite a strong performance.

The women's final was pure excitement - with technical challenges and dramatic shoot-offs. Sabrina Eckert showed nerves of steel and knocked her Ukrainian competitor out of the race in the first shoot-off. But she had to admit defeat in the second and said goodbye to the fight for gold. Sara Schäfer held the German flag high, but was eliminated in 5th place. The gold medal went to the Hungarian, who fought her way to the top with another world record of 247.8 rings.

In the men's final, the competition was less successful than hoped for the German shooters. Daniel Colin Müller and Erik Hess were unable to prevail and finished in 7th and 6th place. The gold medal deservedly went to Srikanth Dhanush from India, who won with a new world record of 251.7 rings. The Indian shooters thus continued their impressive dominance at this World Championship.

Tomorrow the mixed competitions in the air pistol and air rifle will continue - excitement guaranteed!
